The 4-H program offers youth many opportunities to learn and apply leadership skills. Service opportunities exist for members from the club level on through the state level -- and even at the national and international levels. Numerous training and networking activities are available for members as they mature and seek out increasing amounts of responsibility.

Club Leadership Opportunities
- Hold an office in your club.
- Serve as a Junior Leader for a project (for members in 7th, 8th, and 9th grades).
- Serve as a Teen Leader for a project (for members in the 10th grade and above).
- Coordinate activities for club meetings.
- Coordinate an event for your club.
- Chair or serve on standing committees.
County Leadership Opportunities
- Chair or serve on planning committees for area events such as field days, judging days, and presentation days.
- Be a member representative at Council meetings.
- Hold an office in the Santa Clara County 4-H Club Council.
- Chair or serve on county standing/advisory committees.
- Chair or serve on planning committees for county events such as Leadership Overnight, Presentation Day, or Club Officer Training Day.
- Carry out an Emerald Star Project.
- Attend or lead a workshop at Leadership Overnight.
- Attend or serve as camp staff at the 4-H Summer Camp.

Sectional/Regional Leadership Opportunities for Teens
- Get involved with the North Central Section Leaders' Council
- Attend the Western Regional Leaders' Forum
State Leadership Opportunities for Teens
- Get involved with the State Leaders' Council.
- Attend or lead a workshop at the 4-H State Leadership Conference.
- Attend California Focus in Sacramento.
- Apply to serve in the California 4-H Computer Corps.
- Apply to serve as a 4-H State Ambassador (formerly Diamond Star).
National Leadership Opportunities for Teens
- Attend Washington Focus in our nation's capitol.
- Apply to be in the California delegation to the National 4-H Conference held at the National 4-H Center in Chevy Chase, Maryland.
International Leadership Opportunities for Teens and Families
- Participate in one of the 4-H Exchange Programs to Japan, Australia, or Finland by traveling to that country, hosting a foreign exchange youth in your home, or serving on the Orientation Committee to welcome visiting youth.
- Participate in the International 4-H Youth Exchange (IFYE) Program by serving as an IFYE Representative or Ambassador in another country, or host an IFYE from another country in your home.
