May 19th Sectional meeting at Sonoma 4-H building

The requirement for Presentations has been removed from Star rankings. I&R has been asked to put it back. Vicky B. explained that the after school program kids were being hindered by the requirement, and to make the "playing field" more even, the requirement was eliminated.

Sectional Citizenship Day is coming up. April 21

State Council

Tresurer - Leadership Overnight In/Out monies.

Received a check from San Martin Horsemen's Assoc. for $900. Targeted to County Horse project, but not for year-end awards.

John asked for a few changes to the line items: change "awards" to "judges" for small/large animal field day

John asked that the budget be increased to $700 for the field day. Wants to include a hay ride.

MSC to do so.

VP report on upcoming events. Check the Yahoo group site.
Wants another club to come to Council and present what is going on in their club.

County Olympics - May 19th -> Talked about the activities planned.

Coming up: Next Year's All Stars workshop date April 21, apps due into the County Office on or before May 12
Gold Star or equivalent experience.

Vicky B - President of State Leaders' Council
California 4-H Foundation is the funding source for many activities within 4-H. SLC, National 4-H conference, State Ambassadors.
Three-county projects maight be able to fund the activity.
At the State Fair, the Foundation pays for the 4-H booth. Professional job. Need volunteers to man the booth.

Policy Committee - on-line Food booth training process is being piloted in Solano county.
State Leader's council - wants to bring Youth to the exec board. Kudos to Santa Clara county 4-H for already having them on the board.

Small/Large Animal field day. Planning meeting here at 6:30 on Friday. Hoping to get the reptile and amphibian rescue society to come to and having a booth at the field day.

Not too early to start thinking about the fall Mega-Field Day.

April 21 Fashion Review and Design Contest - Call Theresa Johnson for special requests for scheduling. Location is here at 1555 Berger Dr. auditorium.
April 10 deadline for applications: email Theresa for the app.

Favorite Foods Day - good turnout, good group of participants.

Public Relations Loraine Johnson from Pleasant Acres.
She is working with different print and radio stations
email her with ideas to publicize.

San Jose Giants game for a 4-Hers game day?

Talent Show update - 100 attendees: 30 people in the show. El Sereno won the $100 prize for the most acts.

Dance - 7pm to 11pm, clover aged members thru 9, then older ones after that.

Estela is currently going to do the 4-H secretary job for 30% of her time.

Proficiency testing: hopefully Estela will be able to pick up the process of publishing these tests.

Proficiency writing day: April 14th - like last time. any leader is welcome to help out on the test writing. The proficiency test is more than just the questions that the kids need to answer. More like a life skills development testing.

Clover Camp application - dates changed from last year's app, then put it up on the web site.

Will the Council be sponsoring a Feature Booth competition at the Fair this year? good question. Emma G. got talked into being the chair for the committee to make this happen.

Will 4-H members be doing demonstrations and Presentations at Fair this year? Take this back to the clubs and find out if the whole of SCC4H would be interested in doing this. Maybe send letters to Presentation Day participants.

Financial Assistance Request form. To be reviewed by a committee. Murlin to appoint the committee members. Completed forms to be held at the county office, by Fe.

Record Book Training coming up. Probably in May.

Leader Training day by Tom Fraser and Mary Engebreth. On April 21. Location TBD.

State Fashion Review committee is asking for county councils for monies. MSC to give them $100.



Thanks to Calaveras Hills for the refreshments tonight.

Pleasant Acres is on the calendar for refreshments for next council meeting.
